These drawings were done at a Duluth Festival Opera concert performance of La Boheme. A concert performance has no sets or costumes, so to provide ambiance and context live video of my hand was projected onto a large screen at the back of the stage as I spontaneously drew the characters and scenes as I imagined them.
To avoid interfering with the other performers the live drawing was used to make transitions to images that were done beforehand, between scene changes, during musical interludes, at the beginning of each act and throughout the intermission.
A very intense experience...
